I’ve just created a download section for User Contributed Themes. If you would like to have your theme included in the User Contributed Themes section, email me a zip file containing all the files necessary to use your theme along with a README file that explains how to install it, any known issues, and optional contact info for problems/questions. 2.0.8 – Bug Fixes

This release fixes some bugs in the relationship calculator and the surnames page.

Starting with this release I am including a diff file that contains the changes from the previous version. If you are using a *nix system, you can use the patch command to update your installation. For example, if you have Retrospect-GDS installed in /home/web/retrospect/, you can run the following:

cd /home/web/ wget http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/retrospect/retrospect-2.0.7_to_2.0.8.diff patch -p0 < retrospect-2.0.7_to_2.0.8.diff

2.0.7 – Relationship Calculator

There seems to be renewed interest in adding a relationship calculator to Retrospect-GDS, so I’ve integrated a module that Brent Beardsley uploaded a couple of years ago. It has been languishing in the Bug Tracker since he uploaded it, so it needed a little love and attention to make it work with the latest version of Retrospect-GDS.

You’ll find a link to the Relationship Calculator on the Reports tab for each individual. Once you click the link you’ll be taken to a new page where you will need to know the number of an individual in order to calculate the relationship. This can be a pain, so I plan on integrating a search function in the future.

Give it a try and let me know what you think of it.

2.0.6 – Squashing Bugs

I released version 2.0.6 today. This fixes a pretty big bug in the family module where an individual’s page will show up blank. This only occured if the individual was connected to a family as a spouse, but the other spouse was not defined.

I recommend that everybody upgrade to this release as soon as possible. You may be affected by this bug, without knowing it.

Forum Migration

I’ve been fighting a massive amount of spam in the forums for the last month, so I decided to migrate the forums to a different software platform that will make it easier for me to counteract the spammers. 2.0.5 – Hebrew & Swedish Edition

It’s been about 1 year since the last update, but it’s finally here! This update adds a swedish language translation by Kjell-Inge Gustafsson and a hebrew language translation by Yair Lahav.

Be aware that hebrew is a right-to-left language, so to really take advantage of the translation you’ll need a right-to-left template. If you happen to create a new template for it, please email it to me at keithm@infused-solutions.com.

I’ve got some other enhancements planned for the near future. I’m busy building a testing framework, so that I can more easily (and quickly) add new features. As soon as it’s finished I’ll start making some enhancements.

Improved note import in 2.0.4

With 2.0.4, which I’ve released this evening, the note importing has been improved significantly. Previously, only general notes that were attached to an individual were imported and any other notes were ignored. Now any note attached to an individual or family event will be imported. These notes will be displayed right below the event to which they are attached.

Another fresh update with a small handful of fixes and enhancements:

Added a new Intro module, which can be used as the default page instead of the surname list. There is no admin interface to update the content of the Intro page. Instead, you just need to edit the intro.tpl file in the templates directory. Thanks to Eirik Stavem for coming up with this idea.
Replaced a bunch of the graphic files for the pedigree charts because the old ones were not being displayed correctly in Internet Explorer.
Corrected a problem with the Coppermine gallery plugin. Results were being returned for individuals that did not actually have any images associated with them.
Changed the behavior of the Multimedia tab (only available when a gallery plugin is active). It is now only visible if there are images associated with the individual.

2.0.2

2.0.2 is out and contains several bug fixes as well as a couple of new features requested by the community. There are two main enhancements in 2.0.2. The first is that commenters can now embed links within comments using simple wiki-like syntax. The second is that you can now upgrade existing installations of Retrospect-GDS without having to re-import your data (and lose all your comments, etc). The installer will detect an existing installation and will ask if you want to do an upgrade or a fresh installation.

Fixed a few small display problems in the admin module

Improving the Installer

I’m working on an improved installer that is planned for release (fingers crossed) in 2.0.2. The new installer will support upgrading an existing installation and will handle some common installation problems more intelligently than the old installer. I want to test this installer very thoroughly, so I’d like to get a handful of people to beta test it before I put it out there. If you’d like to help test the new installer when it’s ready, please email me or leave a comment here.
